Breaking Bread Ceremony
Parents and grandparents shared in their second grade children’s spiritual journey through a bread and prayer Eucharistic experience as part of the children’s preparation for First Holy Communion last week. The children in Mrs. Kollin’s second grade class baked and ate ordinary bread as a sign of the love that unites us. The promise of the Last Supper was remembered through Bread of Life themed prayer-rituals, Scripture readings, songs of joyful praise and a petition to our Heavenly Father. Father Eric enriched them with a beautiful Homily. Father Eric and Deacon Rick blessed the bread made by the children. The children processed to banquet tables singing “The Table of Plenty” where they praised God with table blessing prayers and celebrated God’s gifts.
