GMC B-Ballers Take PAL Tournament
We played a great 3 game weekend tournament in Fresno this past weekend. This was the 47th annual PAL tournament. We earned 1st place at the PAL tournament for the first time in many years!
Our first game against St. Aloysius (from Tulare) ended in a 33-8 win. Luke Boken scored 8 points while Carter Glick and Tristin Morales put in 7 points each. All 8 guys came together to play great defense as St. Al’s scored 4 points the first half and 4 in the second. Great defensive game for GMC and a great win!
Our 2nd game was against OLPH out of Clovis. Carter shot the ball well and paced us with 19 points. Tristin Morales drove the ball in and scored around the basket consistently. He finished with 16 points. Josh Sandoval also provided two key baskets in the 4th quarter. Coach Rast really liked seeing the guys play great defense again against a very athletic team. Tristan Mirwald and Ryan King played tough down low and provided us with great plays!
Our final game put us up against St. Helens from Fresno. They are a very talented team with several great players. We needed all the guys we had available to win. This game was very intense, it tested us and it really was a game that Coach Rast, as well as everyone that was there, will remember for some time. Carter shot the ball from all over the court and scored 25 points. Tristin Morales had his best game of the weekend and scored 16 points while battling foul trouble. Coach has to mentions everyone for such a great defensive effort! Ryan King and Tristin Mirwald played their best game on the defensive end. They had to really battle for position down low and continually fight for the ball. Josh Sandoval stepped up his game and did a tremendous job rebounding. Travis Applegate and Connor Lenihan provided a great boost, especially after we had several players foul out. They came in and played extremely well. This game was 44-44 as the 4th quarter ended. We played a 2:00 overtime period and pulled out a win by not allowing any points in those 2 minutes. We played the last 4 or 5 minutes of this game with only 5 players available due to foul trouble.
